The National Commission for Women in association with the Maharashtra State Commission for Women & Maharashtra police organised a seminar on Awareness on Anti human trafficking on 16th December 2022 , at the Office of the Commissioner of Police, Mumbai.
This seminar was inaugurated by the Chairperson NCW, Smt Rekha Sharma who called for stringent measures against traffickers and informed that stakeholders must work towards a victim centred approach while dealing with Human trafficking cases. Chairperson MSCW, Smt Rupali Chakankar higlighted the role of women’s commission and the critical initiatives undertaken to protect vulnerable women from trafficking crimes .Shri. Deepak Pandey ji ( IG PCWC ) Maharashtra police presented the current scenario of trafficking in Maharashtra and ensured AHTUs will be strengthened further to combat trafficking crimes.
Key note Speaker Dr PM Nair, IPS(Retd) spoke about the dimensions of human trafficking & the role of investigators . The technical sessions were held by experts from International Justice Mission Ms. Renita menezes emphasising on the latest court rulings. Ms. Priti Patkar, Prerana discussed about the rescue ,care & protection of victims and Ms, Sunitha Krishnan , Prajwala highlighted the role of police & ngos in post rescue & rehabilitation .
The participants included all AHTU from Maharashtra, NGOs , law students , Official staff and members of the commissions, WCD and Police.
